Drue Larkin

Teaching Schedule: Tuesdays 5:15pm and Fridays at 12:00pm.

Drue found yoga through a search for stillness. Stillness of the body and stillness of the mind. Yoga in English means "Union" but in Sanskrit, it means "the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind" Drue knew that this was her key to a meditation practice.

Drue got her training in the rigorous and energetic Ashtanga style. Through a set of movements, linked with breath, one finds Asansas (poses) through a flow (vinyasa). This style asks much of its practitioner but discipline has always appealed to Drue. She has spent many years in Michelin Starred restaurants and is now working to become a Certified Sommelier. She graduated from Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University with a degree in Acting, and has taken on the great journey of starting her own theatre company. So you could say she thrives on challenges.

Drue believes yoga is a way to communicate with yourself. A tool for self reflection. Connecting the mind, body, and spirit, we can become more aware of the subtle things happening within and around ourselves. Knowledge of self is knowledge of the universe. The better we know ourselves, the more we can know how to care for ourselves, and in turn, others. Drue's class will offer a sense of curiosity, taking the time to notice what is happening within each pose. Drue hopes that each class is an escape into ourselves. This home we have all found ourselves in- our bodies. Exploring all the rooms without judgement, and clearing out anything that does not serve us, so that we can finally sit with ourselves, knowing nothing but perfection.
