Alaina (AJ) is an LGBTQ+ friendly yoga teacher, and mental health advocate based in Chicago. AJ discovered yoga in pursuit of finding a form of exercise that was a healthy influence without it being harmful to someone with Marfan's Syndrome. Having practiced the teachings of yoga from L.A. to Chicago and in between, AJ has used yoga practice as a tool to maintain a healthy body and a healthy mind. Utilizing the gift of yoga to help navigate through difficulties such as anxiety, depression, and invasive and tolling surgeries has really helped them overcome life's obstacles and find peace of mind both on the mat, and off. Looking to share this powerful tool with others, AJ achieved a 200hr YTT certification in the midwest and has been teaching since May of 2020. This instructor strives to make everyone feel welcome and inspired, hoping that each student who walks into their class can find peace of mind and walk out with confidence.
AJ teaches a mix of Restorative, Hatha, and Vinyasa and has worked with dynamic classrooms of all ages. Whether you are just beginning your yoga journey or are well attuned to vinyasa flows, AJ offers a gentle flow with intermediate alternatives to make the most of your practice!
